Get to work for nature! Help us build a new hiking trail at Webster Woods Nature Preserve, and help maintain our original loop at the preserve.
Please RSVP on our Eventbrite listing, so we know how many tools and snacks to bring!
Volunteers will help clear brush and leaf litter, build a few stairs and a small bridge, mark the trail, and more – all led by the team at Groundworks Ohio River Valley. They’re a conservation corps out of Cincinnati, and they’re leading this trail build thanks to our members and generous support from the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County, Duke Energy Foundation, and J&G Fox. Join us for the volunteer work day. You can help make this beautiful rolling forest (with its massive trees, ferns, and creek) a place where people can fall in love with nature.
When: Come for 10am-noon, 1pm-4pm, or the whole time
Where: Webster Woods Nature Preserve – between Hanover and Scottsburg. Parking right across the road, at Liberty Church (corner of Ford Rd and 1066 W). There is a (very nice) outhouse available there.
What we’ll do: Build a trail! Physical work that includes bending, walking, lifting, raking, etc. – Come ready for a workout, and know that your hard work will make a difference.
Who: You! Volunteers of all ages can help, and we’ll find a task that fits you. Bring a friend and work as a team (laughter and storytelling among friends makes trail building even more fun). Kids are welcome, but please note: the parent/adult will need to work with them as a team, and provide supervision throughout the volunteer work day.
What to bring (and what we’ll provide): Bug spray, long pants, hat, gloves, a water bottle, your picnic lunch, and hand pruners if you have them. We’ll provide the larger tools like rakes and such for clearing the trail. We’ll have a big cooler of water that you can refill from. We’ll also provide some basic snacks, but if you have food allergies please bring along what works for you.
Please RSVP on our Eventbrite listing so we know how many volunteers to plan on.
